California Political Bodies Adopt E-Verify
To Check Employee Eligibility to Work in United States
| A Democrat-dominated California tax agency has adopted
the free, federal online E-Verify program to check on the eligibility of
employees to work in the United States. The state Board of Equalization with 4000 employees administers $55 billion of revenues from sales, excise, and other taxes. Its five partisan members are three Democrats and two Republicans. Four are elected from districts, Democrats Betty Yee and Judy Chu and Republicans Bill Leonard and Michelle Steel. The fifth member is State Controller Democrat John Chiang. The Board of Equalization joins two other public bodies in California to use the E-Verify program to enforce the law, the City of Mission Viejo (under the leadership of Councilman John Paul Ledesma) and the West Covina Unified School District (under the leadership of Board Member Mike Spence). Illegal aliens have slipped into government employment. In the City of Los Angeles, the Department of Water and Power found five illegal aliens on the payroll for over three years in positions ranging from management analyst to water sampling technician. They came from Ethiopia, Nigeria, El Salvador, Mexico, and the Philippines. The California Republican Party and the American Independent Party have adopted E-Verify for their employees. The other four parties have yet done so: Democratic, Libertarian, Peace & Freedom, and Green. The E-Verify Program website is https://www.vis-dhs.com/EmployerRegistration.
